Tragedy struck a Pakistani family from Quetta as all six members perished in a heartbreaking migrant boat accident off the Turkish coast.
Syed Ali Agha, a resident of Alamdar Road, Quetta, his wife Tahir Bibi, and their four children – Subhan (14), Sajjad (12), Fatima (10), and Kausar (5) – met their untimely demise as they sought passage to Greece in pursuit of a better future in prosperous European countries.
News of the family’s devastating loss was confirmed by their relatives, who received the grim notification via a phone call from Turkiye on March 20th. Faced with the complexity and costliness of repatriating the bodies, the family reluctantly consented to have them interred in Turkiye after reaching out to the Pakistan embassy for assistance.
Ali Agha’s brother-in-law disclosed that the family had relocated to Iran following his marriage, fleeing the dangers of targeted killings against the Hazara tribe and grappling with financial difficulties. Approximately three to four years ago, they decided to move to Turkiye, where Ali Agha, in a bid for a better life, endeavored to embark on the perilous journey to Greece with his loved ones in mid-March. Tragically, their hopes were dashed as their boat capsized off the Turkish coast.
