The Ministry of Information Technology has developed an alternative application for WhatsApp named ‘Beep Pakistan’ for government employees.
The new app is meant to help government employees send documents, messages, photos, video/voice notes, and other communication without facing concerns about hacking or leaking reports. In this regard, IT Minister Syed Syed Aminul Haque has said that the launch of the Beep application in Pakistan is due in the next few weeks and the app will be for all government employees.

Syed Aminul Haque said that the app will be maintained by NTC, so it will be safe, this app has been developed and is on trial, it will be launched in a few weeks. He said that in the first phase, only text-messaging will be available in this app. The second phase will also feature voice and video calls.
He said the app would be launched at an early stage only for federal government employees. It may be recalled that the Establishment Division had written a letter to federal government employees forbidding them from using WhatsApp.
