RAWALPINDI: Pakistan wants to maintain enduring ties with United States (US), said Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa while meeting a delegation headed by the Counselor of the US State Department Derek H Chollet at Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed during the meeting.
The COAS said that Pakistan desires to maintain this tradition of bilateral engagement and multi-domain enduring relationship with the United States.
Both sides agreed upon enhancing defense and security cooperation.
The visiting dignitaries expressed their grief over the devastation caused by ongoing floods in Pakistan and offered sincere condolence to the families of the victims.
In this time of need, they pledged to support the people of Pakistan. The leaders praised Pakistan for its efforts to maintain stability in the area and promised to play their part in fostering collaboration with Pakistan at all levels.
The COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed gratitude for the US’ help and reaffirmed the importance of cooperation from our international allies in providing relief and rehabilitation for flood victims.
The Army Chief had earlier stated in his meeting with Samir Bin Abdulaziz Al-Tabib, CEO of the Saudi Ministry of Defense’s Transformation Management Office, that Pakistan values its long-standing and cordial ties with Saudi Arabia and recognizes its distinctive position within the Islamic community.
The dignitary on the visit highlighted Pakistan’s defense capability and expressed a willingness to strengthen cooperation in the defense and security sectors. He also expressed his sorrow at the destruction brought on by Pakistan’s floods.
