ANKARA: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday arrived in Turkey on a day-long official visit, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.
The army chief called on Minister of National Defence General Hulusi Akar (Retired), wherein General Yasar Guler, Commander Turkish General Staff and General Umit Dundar, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces were also present.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interests, regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan Peace Process and bilateral defence and security cooperation in various fields were discussed.
Gen Bajwa acknowledged the Turkish engagements with Pakistan especially the ongoing efforts for continuing the positivity for peace in the region.
He also reiterated that Turkey is one of the key Muslim countries in the region and that enhanced Pakistan-Turkey cooperation will have positive impact on regional peace and stability.
The dignitaries appreciated Pakistan’s positive role for regional peace and stability, especially the Afghan peace process and pledged to continue working for better relations between two brotherly countries. Earlier on arrival, COAS was also presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out military contingent.

Azerbaijan visit
Earlier Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa was in Baku on a two days long official visit to Azerbaijan.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief called on Azerbaijan President Mr Ilham Aliyev. He also met Minister of Defence Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asgar Oglu.
During the meetings, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan peace process and bilateral defence and security cooperation in various fields were discussed.
COAS Bajwa said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan share common values based on rich cultural, religious and historical affinities and have tremendous geo-strategic potential for mutually beneficial and enhanced cooperation at all forums.
He also expressed Pakistan Army’s desire to further enhance bilateral military cooperation and regional partnership between the two countries. The dignitaries thanked Gen Bajwa for Pakistan’s support to Azerbaijan at all international forums.
