Pakistan is set to host the 14th South Asian Games in 2026, as announced by the South Asian National Olympic Committee during a meeting on Tuesday.
Originally scheduled for 2021 but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the games will now take place from January 23 to 31 in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Islamabad.
The meeting, led by Pakistan Olympic Association president Arif Saeed, saw the participation of representatives from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives. An Indian spokesperson joined the meeting online.
It was announced that the events for each sport will be finalized before March 31, with technical handbooks prepared and released pending approval from the respective Asian Federations. Furthermore, a South Asian Olympic Committee Constitution Review Committee will be established to align its constitution with that of the Olympic Council of Asia.
The meeting also approved 27 different disciplines for the Games.
