The government, according to PM Shehbaz Sharif, is closely monitoring developments in Sudan and making every effort to safeguard the safety of Pakistani nationals there.
According to the statement, there are now over 1,500 Pakistanis living in Sudan. It also added that the Pakistani embassy was in touch with them and giving them all the assistance it could.
The prime minister noted that due to the danger involved in getting to the airport, Pakistan was having difficulty evacuating its citizens.
