Pakistan on Tuesday shot down an Indian quadcopter after it entered a Pakistani area on the Line of Control (LoC)
According to security sources, the enemy quadcopter violated Pakistan’s airspace in the Manawar sector of the Bambar area for espionage purposes. However, Pakistani forces responded swiftly and shot it down.
“The timely action by the Pakistan Army thwarted the enemy’s nefarious attempt to spy across the border,” the sources said, adding that the incident once again demonstrated the Army’s “professionalism, readiness, and defensive preparedness.”
The sources further stated that the Pakistan Army remained fully alert to respond promptly and effectively to any act of aggression. There was no immediate response from the Indian authorities regarding the incident.
There were also unconfirmed reports recently that Pakistan and Indian forces have been exchanging fire at the LoC almost daily after the Pahalgam incident.
Relations between the nuclear-armed neighbours have plummeted after India accused Pakistan of backing the Pahalgam attack, in which 26 tourists were killed.
Islamabad has rejected the Indian allegations, and both countries have since exchanged diplomatic barbs, expelled citizens, and ordered the border shut.
The United Nations has urged the arch-rivals to show “maximum restraint”, while China, which shares a border with both India and Pakistan, urged both sides on Monday to “exercise restraint”.
