KARACHI: Five months after the coronavirus was detected in Pakistan, the number of cases keeps rising in the country bringing the tally to 181,088.
The coronavirus has affected more than 181,000 in Pakistan, while the death toll stands at 3,590. According to the National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 4,471 cases of coronavirus were reported while 89 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As many as 71,458 patients have recovered from the disease, while the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
There have been 66,943 cases so far been detected in Punjab, 69,628 in Sindh, 21,997 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 9,445 in Balochistan, 10,912 Islamabad, 1,288 in Gilgit Baltistan and 845 in Azad Kashmir.
Out of a total of 3,590 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 808 deaths, Sindh 1,048, Balochistan 100, Gilgit-Baltistan 21, Punjab 1,407, Azad Kashmir 19 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 98 deaths.
Outside of big cities, awareness about the prevalence of the disease has been slow to take hold. In Peshawar and other parts of the KP province, multiple eyewitnesses reported a lack of social distancing, masks, or other safety measures.
