KARACHI: A further 56 deaths and 1,165 new cases have been reported in Pakistan due to the coronavirus.
According to the National Command and Control Center, the total number of deaths from coronavirus in Pakistan has reached 12,436 while the total number of affected people has reached 565,989. In the country, 528,545 people have recovered from coronavirus and the number of patients undergoing treatment is 25,008.
The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus was in Punjab where 5,114 people lost their lives while 4,244 in Sindh, 2,007 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 486 in Islamabad, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 199 in Balochistan, and In Azad Kashmir, 284 people have lost their lives.
The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad is 42,921, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 70,123, in Sindh 254,286, in Punjab 165,200, in Balochistan 18,954, in Azad Kashmir 9,562 and in Gilgit-Baltistan 4 9,943 people have been infected with the virus.

During the second wave of coronavirus, the number of positive cases dropped significantly to 3.9 percent. The situation is back to pre-November 10 levels. According to the National Command and Operations Center, the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in Karachi is 10.68 percent. The rate of positive cases in Islamabad is 1.18 percent, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 5.25 percent, in Punjab 5.97 percent, and in Sindh 10.23 percent.
Coronavirus vaccination is underway in Pakistan and in the first phase, health workers are being vaccinated against coronavirus, while people above the age of 63 have also been vaccinated. Adult vaccination centers have been set up across the country and the entire vaccination process will be controlled by digital mechanisms.
