Pakistan reports 498 new COVID-19 cases, seven deaths

ISLAMABAD: At least seven people have lost their lives due to the coronavirus in Pakistan and the total number of deaths has risen to 6,335. 

At least 498 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan in the past 24 hours, bringing the tally to 297,512. According to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Operations Center, the number of active cases in the country has reached 8,909.

There are facilities for coronavirus patients in 735 hospitals in Pakistan and the number of ventilators for corona patients in hospitals is 1,920. The number of virus cases in Sindh has reached 130,041, Punjab 97,044, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 36,414, Balochistan 13,045, Islamabad 15,714, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 2,306 and Gilgit 2,948 cases were reported.

The coronavirus has caused 2,206 deaths in Punjab and 2,420 in Sindh. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has 1,255, Islamabad 175, Balochistan 143, Gilgit-Baltistan 71, and Azad Kashmir 65 deaths from Corona.

There are 132 testing laboratories operating in the country and trace, test, and quarantine strategies are working effectively in several cities.

According to the government, the graph of coronavirus cases in Pakistan is constantly coming down but the threat is not over yet.

Since recording its first case on 26th February, Pakistan has responded in fits and bursts to the pandemic, rolling out loose lockdowns that were later reversed, while crowds shunned social distancing guidelines and continued to flock to markets and mosques.
