Pakistan categorically rejected the provocative and inflammatory statement made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address a day earlier, saying that the portrayal of Islamabad as seeking a ceasefire is a blatant lie, the Foreign Office said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the FO said that the country remains committed to the “ceasefire understanding,” adding that Pakistan was taking necessary steps towards de-escalation and regional stability.
The statement further said that Pakistan categorically rejects the false and provocative statements made yesterday by the Indian Prime Minister, at a time when the international community is striving for peace and stability in the region.
The FO described the Indian Prime Minister’s statement as “a dangerous provocation based on misinformation, political opportunism, and blatant violation of international law.”
The spokesperson said that this statement reflects India’s pattern of fabricating false narratives to justify aggression.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said that this ceasefire was possible due to the diplomatic efforts of several friendly countries. India’s claim that Pakistan is a victim of “disappointment and defeat” is another blatant lie.
He further said that blaming Pakistan for the Pahalgam attack, without any solid evidence, is a continuation of the Indian conspiracy method, intended to justify military adventures, achieve internal political objectives, divert attention from the growing hatred against minorities and human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and create an artificial external threat.
The statement further said that Indian actions are setting a dangerous precedent, attempting to undermine strategic stability in South Asia. By calling its actions—including the killing of innocent civilians, including women and children—“normal,” India is putting regional peace at permanent risk.
