ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has recorded 2,701 new coronavirus cases during the previous 24 hour period as the total number of cases crossed the grim 600,000 milestone.
According to the latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan has recorded 54 more coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 13,430
There were 2,701 fresh infections were reported during the period. The total number of active cases is 18,703 and the positivity rate increases up to 6.56 percent. In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,573 people have recovered from the virus in a day while 1,709 patients are still in critical condition.
A total of 41,133 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Overall 568,065 people have recovered from the deadly disease so far while 9,402,639 samples have been tested thus far.
Sindh has the highest number of coronavirus cases reported so far. The province has recorded 260,661 cases and 4,452 deaths so far while there are still 3,677 active cases. Punjab has recorded 182,576 cases so far including 5,698 deaths while there are 8,692 active cases in the province.
Khyber Paktunkhwa has 75,052 reported cases so far including 2,138 deaths and has 2,669 cases. Balochistan has 19,171 reported cases, 202 deaths and 120 active cases. Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan has no active cases and has been declared the first coronavirus-free region in the country.
