KARACHI: Pakistan has witnessed a spike in coronavirus cases as the number surged to 66,457 in the country, while the death toll stands at 1,395.
The country witnessed the highest rise in deaths in a single day from the coronavirus with 78 new cases of death.
As many as 24,131 patients have recovered from the disease, while the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
Pakistan has so far conducted 532,037 coronavirus tests and 12,020 in the last 24 hours The country has eased its lockdown in order to stave off an economic crisis from stagnating growth.
There have been 24,104 cases so far been detected in Punjab, 26,113 in Sindh, 9,063 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4,087 in Balochistan, 2,192 in Islamabad, 660 in Gilgit Baltistan and 234 in Azad Kashmir.
Out of a total of 1,395 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 445, Sindh 427, Balochistan 46, Gilgit-Baltistan 09, Punjab 439, Azad Kashmir 06 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 23 deaths.
