Pakistan Railways has issued a new ticket refund policy, which will also apply to tickets purchased through the “Rabta” app, as reported by national media on Sunday.
According to the refund policy notification issued by Pakistan Railways, passengers who purchased tickets from a point of sale (POS) will receive a 90% refund if they cancel at least 48 hours before the train’s departure.
The refund policy states that in case of cancellation between 24 to 48 hours before departure, 80% of the amount will be refunded, while cancellations within 24 hours before departure will result in a 70% refund.
If the cancellation occurs within two hours after the train’s departure, a 50% refund will be given. However, if the train is delayed by six hours or more, the full amount will be refunded.
Tickets purchased from a POS can only be refunded at the same counter. Passengers must submit the original ticket and a copy of their ID card to receive a cancellation slip and refund. Online ticket refunds will only be processed through the same online service used for payment.
The refund policy for online tickets is the same as for POS tickets.
No refund will be provided for online tickets after the train’s departure. If less than 1 hour and 30 minutes remain before the train’s departure, an online refund of 50% will be given.
