ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Post initiated the Postal Draft Service (PDS) to prolong its scope of financial services to fulfill the needs of the urban population and the business community.
According to officials of Pakistan, this is very competitive as the service charges are nominal and the payment is relatively quick compared to traditional banks. He said that this remittance service operates among Head Post Offices. He added it can be used for remittance of money by individuals or organizations.
He further said that Pakistan Post also offers the Postal Order service. Postal Order service was designed to fulfill requirements for small remittances at the nominal commission. He said that this traditional postal service facilitates prospective students and would-be employees to request a prospectus, application forms and other relevant information.
He said that Pakistan Postal Orders for the fixed sum from Rs. 1.00 to 50 rupees are sold either for cash or for the cheque and paid by all head and sub-post offices in the country.
Pakistan Post is encouraging in the use of new communication and information technologies to move beyond what is traditionally regarded as a core postal business. Pakistan’s post is dedicated to ensuring and timely delivery of mail, money and material at the doorsteps of the customers at an affordable cost.
