ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan needed to promote Digital Diplomacy in projecting the positive image of the country.
While addressing the inaugural ceremony of the new media center at the Foreign Office in Islamabad today, the foreign minister said the success of modern diplomacy is impossible without the robust engagement of media with the foreign office.
FM Qureshi urged the media to play an active role in countering negative propaganda of the enemy and fake news against Pakistan.
He maintained that in order to deal with the challenges of foreign diplomacy there is a need to improve our communication with the world at all forums. Qureshi said Pakistan was previously perceived as the “problem” for every roadblock in Afghanistan.
He added that through the successive narrative building, Pakistan is being viewed as the solution, not the problem anymore.
Due to the proactive role of the Foreign Office, Pakistan’s narrative on Kashmir is being acknowledged at the international level including the European Parliament and the world press, he added.
Regarding India’s human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the foreign minister said media should play its role in exposing the real face of India to the world.
He said, “We need to thwart Indian blame game aimed at diverting the world attention from the core issue of Kashmir through media.”
