Former Pakistan Test cricketer Mohammad Ramzan has again been appointed as the head coach of China’s national cricket team.
This marks the second time the Chinese government has entrusted him with training their national squad.
The ex-cricketer, known for his dedication, accepted the offer in the spirit of friendship between the two nations.
A one-year agreement has been finalized between Mohammad Ramzan and the Chinese government for his role as head coach.
It is noteworthy that Mohammad Ramzan previously coached China’s cricket team in 2023, earning recognition for his efforts to develop the sport in the country.
Mohammad Ramzan, born on May 24, 1966, in Lahore, Pakistan, was a left-arm orthodox spinner who represented the Pakistan national cricket team during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He made his Test debut in 1988 against the West Indies and played a total of four Test matches for Pakistan. Over his brief international career, Ramzan took 10 wickets at an average of around 40, providing useful support in the spin department. His role as a bowler was to contain runs and break partnerships, but despite his abilities, he had limited opportunities in the national team during his playing years.
Beyond his international appearances, Ramzan enjoyed a long domestic cricket career, where he made a significant impact in Pakistan’s first-class and List A competitions. After retiring from international cricket, he remained involved in the sport through coaching and mentoring younger players, particularly spinners. While his international career was short-lived, Ramzan’s contributions to Pakistan’s cricketing scene, especially in domestic cricket, have cemented his place in the history of the game in Pakistan.
