ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office of Pakistan summoned a senior Indian diplomat to register Pakistan’s strong protest over the ceasefire violations by the Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC).
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office today (Friday), the Indian diplomat was summoned on ceasefire violations along LoC in Nezapir and Rakhchikri Sectors, on Thursday, resulting in serious injuries to six innocent civilians.
The statement said, “Due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian forces, 14 years old Faiza, ten years old Seerat, seven years old Aaiza and their mother Sona Bibi, residents of Degwar Naran village and 44 years old Abdul Majeed resident of Mandhar village as well as 22 years old Muhammad Yasir, resident of Kirni village, sustained critical injuries.”
“The Indian forces along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB) have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars, and automatic weapons,” the statement added.
The foreign office strongly condemned the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian forces. It was also highlighted that such senseless acts were in clear violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, and were also against all established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct.
The statement further said, “By raising tensions along LoC and the WB, India cannot divert attention from the grave human rights situation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.”
