A so-called Indian Islamic scholar, Maulana Sajid Rashidi, has stirred controversy by claiming that Pakistan has no connection to Islam and that Indian imams are prepared to confront Pakistan militarily if granted permission by the Modi government, according to Indian media reports.
Maulana Sajid Rashidi, who serves as the President of the All India Imam Association, harshly criticized Pakistan in a recent statement. He accused the country of making hollow threats out of panic, asserting that Pakistan is aware it would be completely annihilated if India were to launch a serious attack. He claimed Pakistan would be wiped off the world map.
In a conversation with news agency IANS, Rashidi urged the Indian government to allow imams to confront Pakistan directly at the border. He argued that terrorism carried out in the name of jihad has made life difficult for Muslims living in India, and that Indian Muslims are willing to take a stand.
The scholar further distanced Islam from violence, stating that Islam does not support terrorism or the killing of innocents. He alleged that such practices have been wrongly associated with the religion due to Pakistan’s actions, insisting that the country has no genuine link to Islamic teachings.
Concluding his remarks, Rashidi made an appeal to the Indian government, claiming that the imams and Muslims of India are ready to respond to Pakistan’s threats and are willing to take action if given the opportunity.
