Pakistan has been penalised for a slow over-rate in their second One-Day International against New Zealand in Hamilton on Wednesday.
Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed a fine of 5 per cent of the players’ match fees after Pakistan was one over short of the required target, taking time allowances into account. New Zealand won the match by 84 runs.
Pakistan Captain Muhammad Rizwan accepted the sanction and pleaded guilty to the offense, which led to the avoidance of a formal hearing, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed on Thursday.
This marks the second consecutive ODI in which Pakistan has been fined for a slow over-rate.
The team was two overs short of the target in the first ODI, resulting in a 10 per cent fine after their 73-run loss to New Zealand in Napier last Saturday. The third and final ODI of the series will be held in Mount Maunganui on Saturday.
