Along with the majority of the Muslim world, Pakistan observed Eidul Fitr on Wednesday as the nation voiced their support for the people of Gaza, where an Israeli military onslaught claimed over 33,000 Palestinian lives in the last six months.
The top leadership of Pakistan conveyed their support for the war-torn country in their Eid messages, and they urged the international community to guarantee an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and aid the Palestinians.
“On behalf of the Pakistan nation, I want to give the message to the oppressed Muslims of Gaza and Palestine that the whole Pakistani nation express solidarity with you,” President Asif Ali Zardari said in his Eid message released by state news agency APP.
“We impress upon the international community to ensure immediate peace in Gaza and provision of assistance to the Palestinians,” he said. “The oppression, barbarity and genocide by Israel is the gravest violation of human rights.”
Not forgetting the situation in India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the president reassured the region’s people of Pakistan’s unwavering support, both morally and politically, in line with UN resolutions and the Kashmiri people’s aspirations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged Muslims around the world to remember their Palestinian and Kashmiri brothers and sisters who were facing the worst kind of atrocities of the occupation forces and will be constrained to enjoy the joys of Eid.
In a post on social media platform X, he said, “We all pray to Almighty Allah to ease their difficulties.”
He said, “On the joyous occasion of Eid ul-Fitr, I would like to express my felicitations to my fellow countrymen residing both at home and abroad, as well as to the entire Muslim community.”
In addition to the abundant Eid-ul-Fitr messages from Pakistan’s leadership, the armed forces have also extended their heartfelt wishes to the nation. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) shared a message emphasizing that for soldiers, the essence of Eid lies in the honor of serving their country, often far from home, amidst the joyous gatherings of Eid. The message highlighted that for a soldier, the true spirit of Eid is found in the pride of being on the frontlines, safeguarding the nation, despite being distant from family and traditional Eid celebrations.
