ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bahrain have agreed to continue consultations and deliberations on all key regional issues including coronavirus.
The decision came during a telephonic conversation between Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Bahraini counterpart Dr. Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al-Zayani today (Monday).
According to a press release issued by the Foreign Office, matters pertaining to the global coronavirus pandemic, regional and international situation were discussed.
FM Qureshi lauded the timely efforts taken by the Bahraini government to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. He also apprised the Bahraini counterpart regarding the measures taken by the Pakistani government to prevent coronavirus.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi also expressed gratitude to Bahrain for extending cooperating in repatriating stranded Pakistani prisoners following COVID-19.
On the other hand, Bahrain Foreign Minister supported Prime Minister Imran Khan’s call for debt relief to developing countries.
Bahrain Foreign Minister also lauded the efforts made by the Pakistani community in the progress and development of Bahrain.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan in a telephonic conversation with Ethiopian counterpart also highlighted the initiative of debt relief to developing countries.
In this regard, PM Imran underscored that developing countries were facing the twin challenge of containing the coronavirus and staving off hunger due to loss of livelihoods.
