RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army has marked the five anniversary of operation Radd-ul-Fasaad (RuF) which was launched to eliminate remnants of terrorism and facilitators across the country.
DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar (ISPR) stated that it had been five years today since the operation Radd-ul-Fasaad (RuF) began. The operation which placed the Pakistani people’s security as its core objective was “aimed at consolidating gains of two-decades-long war on terror”, and to eliminate remnants of terrorists across the country.
He maintained that RuF operations continued “successfully” as the country transitioned from uncertainty to peace. He further said that the achievements of the operation were only “possible due to blood of martyrs and resilience of our people”. The military’s media wing quoted Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on the occasion said: “We salute the supreme sacrifices of our martyrs and spirit of our great nation.”
Five years after being launched, Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad has resulted in the elimination of the menace as it cleansed internal and external elements responsible for creating chaos and lawlessness in the country.
Launched on February 22, 2017, the intensive nationwide operation against terror groups, steered by Army Chief General Bajwa, has successfully thwarted hundreds of terrorist plots across the country. The operation involved area clearance through Kinetic Operations and development projects for the socio-economic uplift of the people.
The operation is aimed to eliminate the threat of terrorism and consolidating the gains of Operation Zarb-e-Azb launched in 2014 as a joint military offensive. It is further aimed at ensuring the security of Pakistan’s borders.
The operation is ongoing active participation from Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, Police and other civil armed forces. More than 375,000 operations have been carried out against terrorists so far. The National Action Plan was pursued as the hallmark of this operation.
