NEW DELHI: The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has confirmed that Pakistan cricket team for the visually impaired will soon be granted visa to come to India for the third T20 World Cup for the Blind scheduled from December 5-17.
Mahantesh GK, President of CABI has confirmed that Pakistan and India are set to square off at the Siri Fort Ground on December 7. Earlier, there were some issues with regard to the participation of the Pakistan team due to the delay in the issuance of visas.
“We all know it is a challenge to get visas for Pakistan cricketers. The MEA is working on it and we are confident that by the end of the day, they will get their visas,” Mahantesh GK was quoted by Indian media as saying.
According to reports from local Indian sources, matches for the T20 World Cup for the Blind will be played in Faridabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Indore, while the final will be played in Bengaluru.
It has also been learnt that while New Zealand, West Indies and England aren’t participating in this edition, Australia, South Africa, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh will be part of the 12-day event.
Pakistan, it may be recalled, named a 17-player squad last month for the Blind T20 World Cup 2022, set to be played in India. Under the leadership of Nisar Ahmed, Zafar Iqbal (vice-captain), Riasat Khan, Shahzaib, Mohammad Salman, Mohammad Asif, Fakhar Abbas, Badar Munir, Moin Aslam, Anees Javed, Shahzaib Haider, Kamran Akhtar, Mohammad Arshad, Matiullah, Mohammad Safdar, Akmal Hayat, and Mohsin Khan will be in action.
Sajid Nawaz and Faisal Mehmood have also been named in the reserved players’ list alongside the team officials Muhammad Jamil, Tahir Mehmood Butt, Maher M. Yousaf Harron, and Mohammad Ilyas. These men will serve the duties of head coach, trainer, coach, and team manager, respectively.
