ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Monday announced that the country’s oxygen supply capacity was now under stress as the coronavirus situation continues to worsen.
Taking to Twitter, the Head of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) warned the nation of making the ‘huge’ mistake of not following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the increase in COVID-19 infections.
“Hospitals fill up continuing to grow. Critical care patients now above 4500, which is 30% higher than peak in June last year. Sop compliance remains low. We are making a huge mistake by not following SOPs,” he wrote.

“Daily deaths in Iran were more than 300 and in India, more than 1,600. The need for safety precautions is greater than ever,” the minister concluded.
Earlier on April 12, the minister said COVID-19 SOP compliance remains weak in the country and the administration has been asked to “ramp up” enforcement to avoid a crisis like situation.
