KARACHI: More than 90 police officers and personnel in Sindh have tested positive for the novel coronavirus over the last week, according to a spokesperson.
According to a statement issued today (Sunday), the Sindh Police spokesperson have informed that dozens of officers have contracted the COVID-19 within a week, with the tests of 94 of them coming positive over the last seven days.
“The new cases have bumped up the total number of police officers and personnel affected by the deadly disease to 6,250,” the spokesperson added, noting that 24 cops have died of COVID-19 so far.
The coronavirus situation across the country continues to worsen as Pakistan reported 2,664 new cases over the past 24 hours on Sunday. The positivity percentage of the virus has been measured at 6.5% while 32 people passed away from the disease in a single day.
The fresh number of cases reported over the past 24 hours means that the total number of cases in the country has reached 605,200. Out of these, 570,751 have recovered from the novel virus while the total death toll has increased to 13,508.
