The Northern Bypass Cattle Market has received over 150,000 sacrificial animals, marking a vibrant build-up to the Eid season.
According to Administrator Faisal Ali, the cattle market, which became functional on April 19, has already seen the sale of more than 50,000 animals.
The 40th day of operations saw significant activity as buyers flocked to the stalls in both VIP and general blocks in search of premium livestock.
Due to the intense heat, traders have shifted to daytime care routines for the animals, including regular washing to keep them cool and fresh for buyers.
During a recent visit, Dr Haji Rafiq Pardesi, Chairman of HMR Group, expressed his appreciation for the improved facilities and organization at the market.
Speaking at the media cell, he said: “I have been visiting cattle markets since childhood, and today I’m pleased with the progress here. Buyers and sellers are both satisfied”.
Administrator Shahab Ali and the media cell team are performing far better than in the past. This is truly a plus point.”
He added that Karachi remains the hub for sacrificial animal trade across Pakistan, with families visiting the market in large numbers.
“Two and a half decades ago, the market conditions were extremely poor. Today, it’s a completely different picture. I have purchased two animals for Qurbani this year from Afridi Cattle Farm.”
Dr Pardesi also called upon Karachiites to support the cattle traders who travel long distances to supply animals for Eid.
He particularly praised the lively and well-organized food street that has become an attraction at the Cattle Market.
At the end of his visit, Media Cell spokesperson Umm e presented Dr. Rafiq Pardesi with a shield on behalf of the team.
