More than 10,000 incidents of street crimes have been reported in Karachi in the first 2 months of 2025, this was revealed in a police report.
According to the details, 10,356 incidents of street crime were reported in the city during the first 2 months of the year 2025.
The police report said that during the 2 months, 12 citizens were killed and 41 injured while resisting robbery, while 2,806 citizens had their mobile phones snatched.
According to the report, 306 vehicles and 7,244 motorcycles were snatched and stolen from the city till February 28 this year.
The report further said that this year, the daily rate of snatching of mobile phones was 48.4, theft and snatching of vehicles was 5.3, while the daily rate of snatching and theft of motorcycles was 124.9.
According to the police, 14,419 incidents of street crime were reported in the first 2 months of 2024, and the street crime rate this year is 28.18% lower than the first 2 months of 2024.
Police officials say that 32 people were killed and 99 injured in robbery resistance in the first 2 months of 2024.
According to the police, 4,120 mobile phones were snatched from citizens in January and February last year, while 335 vehicles and 9,964 motorcycles were snatched and stolen during this period in 2024.
