ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Shibli Faraz on Tuesday strongly criticised the opposition-led Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) alliance and said it was bitterly divided on the issue of resignation from assemblies.
Addressing a press conference, the federal minister lashed out at PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz and said that an absconder’s daughter was lecturing them on how to run the affairs of the state and issuing threats.
Shibli Faraz said that the opposition does not want Pakistan to enter an era where institutions are respected and independent and where there is a level playing field.
He said the opposition has promoted a society where respect is owned through money and they would never want to desire the country to prosper. He said that the leaders of opposition parties, which have now united against the PTI government, had stabbed each other in the back in the past.
Shibli Faraz said the second wave of coronavirus was far more dangerous than the first wave and a non-serious attitude could lead to strict restrictions on movement which will have an adverse effect on the economy. He said the next two months are important due to the upcoming winter season and the pandemic is already burdening healthcare systems.
He also slammed the opposition over the protest movement during the pandemic and asked them to refrain from behaving irresponsibly. “They have no agenda for the public welfare and only came out serve their vested interests,” he said. He appealed to the masses to stay away from the rallies of the opposition whose politics is based on lies.
The information minister said that the opposition parties have accepted results of constituencies where they are declared successful and are raising a hue and cry over other seats. He said that the opposition is divided over the issue of resignations as Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Maryam Nawaz are in favour as they are not part of parliamentary politics.
