ISLAMABAD: Day before the unveiling of mini-budget by the government in the National Assembly, the opposition started contacting the coalition partners of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said that the mini-budget would be presented in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
After the announcement of the mini-budget by the government, the opposition has started approaching the allies of the PTI government.
The opposition leader said that he had asked the government’s coalition partners how they would respond to the public after supporting the mini-budget.

Sources said that the coalition partners have not yet assured the opposition of its support.
Government allies, on the other hand, have responded to opposition leaders by saying they would consult the party on the bill.
According to media reports quoting sources, more than 1700 items will be taxed in the mini-budget. Imports of luxury items will also be taxed.
Similarly, the new mini-budget is expected to increase federal excise duty on vehicles by 2.5 percent and sales tax on tractors by 5 percent. Imported clothes, perfume, and shoes will also be expensive.
