India’s targeting and attacks on Pakistani civilian populations in the early hours of May 7 are being referred to by the Indian government as “Operation Sindoor,” while on the microblogging website X, “Sindoor turned into Tandoor” also trended at the top, as reported by national media.
According to a report, India attempted to gain sympathy and support by naming its aggression and terrorism targeting Pakistani civilians as “Operation Sindoor,” but the Indian government’s ambitions were foiled.

The report, citing an Indian broadcasting agency, stated that a high-level meeting chaired by Narendra Modi took place before the attacks on Pakistan, in which the targeting of various regions in Pakistan was planned.
During that meeting, the suggestion to name the attacks “Operation Sindoor” was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Furthermore, to disguise its terrorism, the Indian government and military included female wing commanders and colonels from the Indian Army in the aircraft that carried out the attacks on Pakistan.
By naming the attacks “Operation Sindoor,” India claimed it was avenging the April 22 attack on tourists in the Pahalgam area of occupied Kashmir. From the beginning, India has been blaming Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident without evidence, while Pakistan has continuously denied the allegations.
Fifteen days after the Pahalgam incident, the Indian military launched terrorist attacks on Pakistan, targeting civilian populations and naming the operation “Operation Sindoor.” It is worth mentioning that “Sindoor” is traditionally worn on the foreheads of married Hindu women. According to Hindu beliefs, it signifies a woman’s married status and is removed upon the husband’s death.
According to Indian media, since all the deceased in the Pahalgam incident were Hindu men and the women became widows, India staged a revenge drama and called the terrorist attack on Pakistan “Operation Sindoor.”
