KARACHI: A laborer has died due to the collapse of an under-construction building in Surjani Town, while several people were buried under the rubble.
According to details, the incident of under construction building collapse in Surjani Town took place late at night. The work of evacuating the people buried under the debris is going on. Rescue sources said that 10 people have been pulled out of the wreckage in injured condition.
The injured people were shifted to the hospital due to being buried under the debris. Heavy machinery has been brought to the scene to remove more people from the wreckage. The district administration says that the building collapse happened due to faulty material.
Officials said that poor material was used for the construction of the building, which will be investigated. Action will be taken against the officers of the institutions who pass the map of the building. No casualty has been reported yet due to the collapse of the building.
It should be noted that this is not the first incident of a building collapsing in Karachi. Earlier, a 5-storey residential building collapsed in Moosa Colony area of Karachi, as a result of which the adjacent 2-storey building was also damaged.
Last month, due to the collapse of a 5-storey building in Musa Colony, another 2-storey building adjacent to the building suffered cracks. The 2-storey building was also demolished. The PMT also fell on the ground due to the collapse of the 5-storey building.
