ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has restated that giving an amnesty to the corrupt elements would be equivalent to treachery with the country.
In a post on social media, the premier criticised opposition parties and said that the country cannot progress until the corrupt elements are made accountable.
“Unless they are held accountable, the country could not be put on track of progress. They just want to hear three words ‘NRO’ from me, which I will not utter as it will amount to treachery with the country,” he reaffirmed.
The remarks come as the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has issued a deadline call for the prime minister’s resignation which ends tonight.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman is reportedly planning the next course of action for the Azadi marchers to proceed for increasing pressure on the government. He had given PM Khan two days to resign or else he said they will be forced to think of another strategy.
On the other hand, the opposition’s Rehbar Committee has recommended a plan to shift the protest venue to D-Chowk.
