ISLAMABAD: In his message to the nation on the occasion of Defence Day, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said there was nothing more sacred than defending the motherland.
The prime minister said, “That 55 years ago, the Armed Forces and the zealous nation proved to the world that we are ever ready to defend the motherland at all costs”.
PM Imran said that September 6, 1965, was a reflection of the unparalleled spirit of courage and sacrifice of the country’s brave armed forces.
He said that 55 years ago, the Armed Forces and the zealous nation proved to the world that we are ever ready to defend the motherland at all costs. “We showed the world that numbers do not matter; passion, enthusiasm and courage are the most important,” he added.
Imran Khan said that India has imposed terror and fear on innocent Kashmiris and constantly showing aggression on the Line of Control.
“The purpose of these provocations is to divert the world’s attention from Indian atrocities in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” the PM said.
The prime minister said “Pakistan is a believer in peace but it should not be considered as our weakness. The world must realize that our desire for peace is for the economic well-being and prosperity of the people of South Asia”.
“We need to work together for peace and a brighter future for the coming generations,” he said.
Imran Khan said that on the occasion of September 6, “We salute our martyrs and heroes and show the resolve that our determined nation and brave armed forces are fully capable of defending the country”.
“Today we renew our commitment to the defense, security and sovereignty of Pakistan, a commitment demonstrated by the martyrs and heroes of the 1965 war,” the prime minister said.
He urged the countrymen to pay homage to its martyrs and Ghazis, and pledge anew to defend Pakistan, safeguards its security and sovereignty at all costs with the same spirit, undaunted courage, unconquerable and indomitable spirit as had been displayed by the martyrs and Ghazis (veterans) of 1965 war.
The Pakistani nation is celebrating Defence and Martyrs Day on Sunday (today) to pay homage to the martyrs and ghazis who became a rock-solid wall to defend the motherland against the aggression of the enemy.
It was on this day in 1965 that Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation and the armed forces foiled the nefarious plan of the enemy.
