Yashma Gill has clarified that she has not left the entertainment industry following her recent conversation with Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik at his lecture at the Governor House in Karachi.
Dr. Naik is currently on a month-long tour in Pakistan, delivering lectures in major cities such as Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.
Gill addressed the misunderstanding on Instagram, explaining that she attended the talk to discuss some personal struggles in her spiritual journey. “While speaking, I made a statement that may not have been fully clear, especially with the noise from the crowd and the mic issues. This might have led to the impression that I left the acting industry,” she wrote.
She further clarified, “I’m still acting and working; I only mentioned my profession briefly before asking my question. Watching the full video from the start might clear things up.”
During the event, Gill introduced herself as an actor and shared her experience of “falling into the trap of atheism” during college, noting that Dr. Naik’s videos helped her reconnect with her faith.
She also asked a question about predestination and free will, and in his response, Dr. Naik mistakenly referred to her as a former actor, causing some confusion.
In her Instagram story, Gill expressed uncertainty about the future but said she’s currently on a journey to “find a balance between faith and worldly life.” She also expressed appreciation for Dr. Naik’s influence on her spiritual path and encouraged others to attend his talks.
