At least 5 people were killed and 15 others injured as a result of an explosive blast in the Miranshah area of North Waziristan, as reported by Pakistani media on Thursday.
Immediately after receiving information about the blast, security officials cordoned off the area, and the injured were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
An official stated that the nature of the blast has not been determined, whether it was due to an accident or a terrorist attack, with the latter being more common in the area.
According to some media reports, 8 terrorists were killed and 6 were wounded by security forces during an intelligence-based operation in the same Miranshah area a day earlier.
In the past, during another operation, 4 terrorists, including a high-value target and ring leader named Sana alias Baru, were killed by security forces in the Balgatar area of Kech District, Balochistan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Sana alias Baru was a key recruitment agent, especially for suicide bombers, for the so-called Majeed Brigade in Kech and was a highly-wanted terrorist.
Security forces recovered arms and ammunition from the killed terrorists, and the army and security personnel remain committed and determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from Pakistan.
