The Islamabad administration has withdrawn the no-objection certificate(NOC) awarded to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust for organizing a fundraising event due to the restrictions of the international financial institutions, sources said.
“You are hereby directed not to conduct the said activity at Marriott Hotel on December 29, 2023,” said a letter from the additional district magistrate in Islamabad issued on Wednesday. “In case of non-compliance, necessary legal proceedings will be initiated under the law.”
The NOC was canceled a day before the event to be held to raise funds for the treatment of cancer patients.
Fundraisers are bound to provide the details of donors and audit under international laws, sources said and added that the NOC was canceled after the private organization failed to comply with the conditions.
