ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has ruled out imposition of Governor’s Rule in Sindh and vowed to defeat the no-confidence motion in a democratic and political manner as per the constitution.
Addressing a press conference along with Federal Ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar, the foreign minister said these decisions have been taken at PTI’s political committee, which met on Friday in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He said the political committee has decided to serve show-cause notices on dissident PTI Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) and file presidential references against them. He also made it clear that there is no room for minus Imran Khan formula in PTI.
“There was a rumour going on that everything is okay but Imran Khan. Everything can be saved if we go towards minus one,” he said, adding there is “no room for minus one” in the PTI.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed the belief that all allies will not leave the government and they will take political decision. He advised dissident MNAs, including those staying at Sindh House in Islamabad, to rethink their decision.
He said PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi hails from a political family and he cannot trust PML-N, which has always created hurdles in his way. He said MQM will also go with the government as it is well aware of the disservice done by the PPP government to the people of Karachi.
The foreign minister urged the dissident MNAs, to rethink their decision as going against Imran Khan will ruin their political future. He said the government is ready to listen to their concerns. He, however, made it clear that no hurdle will be created in the way of parliamentarians, who want to go to the National Assembly to cast their votes.
