RAWALPINDI: Several officers of the Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) have bogus educational degrees but the investigation against them has been suspended.
The sanitary supervisor, sanitary inspector, and chief inspector of the Solid Waste Management Department have bogus degrees and diplomas. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted an inquiry and concluded that they did not have the required qualifications.
Despite the inquiry by the federal agency, Managing Director and Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Imran Safdar have refrained from taking any action against them reportedly over pressure from the union. Sources informed that sanitary inspector and chief inspector have paid Rs5 lakhs each to stop inquiries against them.
It is interesting to note that many employees who had bogus educational qualification have retired from service, making vast amounts of assets and received political patronage. Earlier, the municipality conducted a computer exam of all employees but ninety percent o f the candidates failed.
