The Director General of Punjab Food Authority, Asim Javed, has said that no evidence has been found of donkey meat being sold in Punjab, including Lahore.
In an exclusive conversation with Sama, DG Food Authority Asim Javed said that no evidence of donkey meat being sold has been found in Lahore or elsewhere in Punjab. Meat safety teams of the Food Authority are active across Punjab.
The meat that enters the city or is slaughtered in private slaughterhouses is thoroughly checked. A fine of over 300 million has been imposed on those selling substandard meat.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, there was a revelation of donkey meat being sold in the federal capital, Islamabad, after which the Food Authority took action.
In Islamabad, at the Tarnol area, a foreign national was found selling donkey meat, on which the Food Authority conducted a raid.
According to sources in the Islamabad Food Authority, donkeys were kept at a farmhouse in Tarnol, from where a large number of donkeys were recovered during the raid. Several tons of donkey meat were destroyed.
