Nine people, including two women, drowned while four others were rescued at Karachi’s Seaview and Hawke’s Bay beaches on Tuesday.
According to rescue officials, six people drowned while bathing at Hawke’s Bay. The rescue teams recovered one body and rescued four individuals. Among the rescued, a woman and a man are in critical condition, according to the police.
In a separate incident at Seaview’s Chunky Munky, three people drowned while bathing. Divers successfully rescued two of them, but the body of the third, identified as Danish, was recovered. Danish, a resident of Sultanabad, was handed over to his family after legal formalities.
The deceased were identified as 30-year-old Noreen, wife of Shera, Asma, and 40-year-old Arshad, son of Basheer, from Liaquatabad No. 3, near Gujjar Nullah.
Karachi’s Additional IG Javed Alam Odho has taken strict notice of the drowning incidents at Turtle Beach, Hawke’s Bay. He has ordered departmental action against the SHO for negligence and carelessness.
