A newly-wed bride has been gang-raped in front of her family in Sheikhupura.
The disturbing incident took place within the jurisdiction of Farooqabad Saddar police station. The victim has married three days ago. Following the wedding, the bride headed back to her parent’s home in Eilanwali village as per tradition.
The bride along with her inlaws including three other male family members were travelling via auto-rickshaw back to the home in Farooqabad when three people wearing masks stopped them.

They snatched mobile phones, cash, and jewelry from the rickshaw riders and family members. Later they took the victim in a nearby field and allegedly gang-raped her.
After the heinous crime, the three rapists released the woman and returned everyone’s cellphones, fleeing the scene of the crime with the other valuables they stole from the travelling group.
A case has been registered and the police have started an investigation into the crime. The inspector general of police directed the district police officer to arrest the culprits and take strict action.
