New Year’s Eve: Check out which roads leading to Sea View will be closed in Karachi

The Karachi Traffic Police unveiled a comprehensive plan on Monday to facilitate citizens ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations. As part of the arrangements, several roads leading to Sea View will be closed on the night of December 31, 2024, through January 1, 2025. 

Security across the city will be heightened, with Section 144 imposed for two days, enforcing a complete ban on firearms, aerial firing, and the use of firecrackers. These measures aim to ensure public safety, as past New Year’s celebrations have unfortunately seen injuries and fatalities resulting from celebratory gunfire.

Residents of Defense Housing Authority (DHA) are advised to use alternative routes to reach their destinations, as large crowds are expected to gather at popular spots such as Clifton, Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim, and Sea View for the festivities.

To minimize inconvenience, residents of areas with restricted access will be permitted to travel using alternative routes if they present original identity cards at checkpoints. These arrangements are part of the authorities’ efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow and secure celebrations across the metropolis.

Closed roads

1. PIDC Chowk (Ziauddin Road) to Ziauddin Bridge towards Lucky Signal
2. PIDC Chowk to Club Road
3. Bilawal Chowrangi to Bahria Underpass
4. Do Talwar to Abdullah Shah Ghazi Shrine
5. Abdullah Shah Ghazi Shrine to 26th Street

Alternative Routes

1. Korangi Road, Sunset Boulevard Road, Gizri Bridge, Saudi Signal towards Khayaban-e-Shamshir, McDonalds towards McDonalds Sea View road will be opened for traffic from Expressway and Korangi.
2. M A Jinnah Road, Garden Road, Zaibun Nisa Street, Awari Light Signal, Sindh Club Chowk, Teen Talwar, Do Talwar towards Zam Zam Boulevard Road, Khayaban-e-Shamshir and McDonalds Sea View would be opened for those travelling to DHA from North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Liaquatabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and New Karachi.
3. Sharea Faisal, Sindh Club Chowk, Teen Talwar, Race Course Signal, Chaudhry Khalid-uz-Zaman Road, Gizri Bridge, Saudi Signal towards Khayaban-e-Shamshir, McDonald Sea View road would be opened for traffic from Gadap, Bin Qasim, Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Jamshed Road and Saddar.
4. Jinnah Bridge en route Mai Kolachi to Boat Basin, Bilawal House Chowrangi, Marine Road (Hyperstar) towards McDonalds Sea View will be opened for traffic.
