The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has rolled out new subject groups for matriculation students starting next academic year, broadening options beyond the traditional science and arts tracks.
These new subject groups—health sciences, agriculture, information technology (IT), and entrepreneurship—will allow ninth-grade students to choose specialized fields that they can pursue throughout their secondary education. Each group consists of eight subjects, with 100 marks assigned to each subject.
Public and private schools across the province have been provided with the complete framework for these groups. The initiative is designed to align the curriculum with global standards while equipping students with practical, career-oriented skills for the future.
