RAWALPINDI: The head of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid has said that the new Army Chief of the country will prove to be apolitical and loyal to his institution and country.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Sheikh Rashid said the institution (of Army) has shown farsightedness by including all senior names in the summary (to the Ministry of Defense) for the appointment of Army Chief.

Now the only question, he said, would arise about (appointment on) merit, and not about like or dislike of someone.

His comments came after a last night’s tweet by DG ISPR in which it said to have sent summary to the Ministry of Defense comprising names of 6 senior most Generals for selection to the post of COAS and CJCSC.
Sheikh Rashid said whosoever would become the new Army Chief would remain apolitical and loyal to his institution and country. He further said that the new Army Chief would try to support the ruined economy.

“Nawaz Sharif resorted to judo karate with anyone he appointed (as Army Chief), Sheikh Rashid added.
