Netflix’s new unpredictable mystery series ‘The Midnight Club ended with a huge twist leaving hints of another season.
Let’s discuss the chances of renewal of ‘The Midnight Club’, which follows a group of terminally ill teens telling each other ghost stories.
Plot
The horror series tells the story of eight teenagers with terminal illnesses. Set in a strange hospice in the 1990s, the teens start meeting up at late night to swap disturbing and supernatural stories.
Is the series based on a true story?
Yes! The story of The Midnight Club is based on Christopher Pike’s young adult novel of the same name. The stories the members of The Midnight Club tell each other are drawn from Pike’s other novels, including The Wicked Heart, Gimme a Kiss, See You Later, Witch, Road to Nowhere, and The Eternal Enemy.
Pike drew inspiration for The Midnight Club from a true story. In 1993, a young cancer patient asked him to write a story about her and the kids in her ward, who had started a “Midnight Club.” “They would meet at midnight and discuss my books,” Pike said in a Netflix press release. Pike gave Ilonka Pawluk a Polish name in honor of the young patient, who also had a Polish name. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, Pike was unable to finish the book before she died.
Ending of season 1
The end of The Midnight Club season 1 comes with a huge twist, as it reveals that Dr Georgina Stanton not only wears a wig, but also has an hourglass tattoo — meaning that she may well have links with the sinister death cult, the Paragon.
Will there be a season 2?
Usually, Netflix tends to wait a month or two after a first season has been released before they decide whether to move forward with a second season, meaning that it’s likely that we will hear an update on the TV series‘ renewal status by December 2022.
Unfortunately, at present, The Midnight Club has not been renewed for a second season. The series debuted on October 7 and its streaming on Netflix.
