What do critics have to say?
According to Indian critics, Khufiya is a well-made gripping saga. It works big time due to the intriguing plot, tight screenplay, twists and turns, and exemplary performances by Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi.
Another critic claimed that ‘Khufiya’ is a sincere attempt by Vishal Bhardwaj to paint the dark and gruesome world of espionage with meticulous attention to detail. The direction in the film deserves a special mention. The way props, angles, and even locations are utilised is beautiful.
Khufiya also offers a glimpse of the classic Bhardwaj-style way of making films, like Haider was grey, Kaminey was black, this one is all things dusty, red, and rusty, a little place of each colour from the human palette of emotion. This secretive tale of spying and politics deserves your attention, but watch it with an open mind.
