Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk shared that the death of Gi-hun’s best friend from Season 1, Jung-bae, was strategically planned as the perfect conclusion to Season 2. “Audiences are definitely going to be shocked and very sad to see Jung-bae go,” Hwang revealed in an exclusive interview with Tudum.
He added, “He’s also the only person within the games that Gi-hun can trust and completely rely on.”
A mid-credits scene teased that the games would continue even after Gi-hun’s capture, setting the stage for the next chapter.
Hwang also hinted that season 3 would continue to explore “the fierce clash between [Gi-hun and Front Man’s] two worlds.”
