Liam Neeson returns to the rugged terrain of high-stakes action in “Ice Road: Vengeance”, a sequel that picks up right where the 2021 original left off.
In this film, he once again plays the role of “Mike McCann”, returning to a world full of ice, danger and emotional intensity. The film is written and directed by Jonathan Hensley, who also directed the first film.
The story this time goes beyond the protection of a brother and focuses on themes of grief and commitment. Mike’s brother “Gertie”, who suffered from war experiences and PTSD, dies in a tragic accident. At the time of his death, Gertie expressed a wish that his ashes be scattered on Mount Everest. Out of a sense of loyalty to his brother, Mike travels to Nepal to fulfill his brother’s last wish.

In Kathmandu, Mike meets a local guide “Dhani Yangchen” (played by Fan Bang Bang). But the journey to Everest is not easy. As they head to base camp, their bus came under a violent attack. Mike suddenly finds himself embroiled in a conflict involving corrupt construction companies and endangered local communities. This personal mission soon turns into a greater cause: saving a Nepalese village from the construction of a massive hydroelectric dam.
True to Neeson’s action-hero legacy, McCann is again forced to wield fists, fury, and fortitude to stand up for justice.
Where will “Ice Road: Vengeance” stream—Netflix or Amazon?
The film is currently only available in theaters. Although it is not a Netflix original production (as was the first film), Netflix is likely to acquire the streaming rights in the future. The film is distributed in the United States by a company called “Vertical,” and according to reports, Netflix could potentially become part of its streaming service. Amazon Prime Video is also a possible option, however, at this time, fans will have to head to the cinema to watch the film.
