ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided to allow full capacity crowd at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7 matches from February 16.
Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar chaired a meeting of the NCOC to review the Covid-19 situation and the ongoing vaccination drive which revised its decision to allow more crowds as the country witnessed a decline in coronavirus cases.
The forum decided to allow 50 percent spectators at the Lahore stadium until February 15 and full capacity from February 16 during the second leg of the PSL tournament. It also announced that good news that children aged below 12 years will also be able to enjoy matches at the stadium. However only fully vaccinated spectators will be allowed the matches.
” Fifty percent fully vaccinated spectators will be allowed till February 15 and from February 16, 100% fully vaccinated fans will be allowed at the Gaddafi Stadium, the NCOC statement said.
The NCOC had allowed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to fill the stadium at 25% capacity during the Karachi leg and barred children under 12 from the stadium. The PCB received flak for banning children from watching cricket at the stadium.
The Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) first phase in Karachi will end on Monday (today) after enthralling cricket lovers in the city. PSL teams will start to reach Lahore for the second phase of the tournament. Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, and Multan Sultans will reach Lahore on Monday. Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, and Karachi Kings will land in Lahore on February 8.
Lahore-leg matches will commence on 10 February when Peshawar Zalmi takes on Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium. Teams will train at the High-Performance Centre and Lahore City Cricket Association Ground.
